Mappedin Offline Behavior: Map Loading and Navigation Without Internet

Hi everyone,

I’d like to understand how Mappedin behaves when a user enters an area with poor or no network connectivity.

For example, if a user initially loads the map and data in an area with good connectivity, then moves into a low-network or offline area:

  • Will Mappedin continue to function without an internet connection?
  • Does indoor navigation still work within the same building?
  • Can navigation continue between buildings?
  • What data is cached locally, and what requires an active connection?

Could someone explain what happens in this scenario?

Thanks!
Denis

Mappedin can continue to function when the user goes offline after the map is loaded. The entire map is downloaded, so switching between buildings while offline is supported.

All directions are calculated locally on the device, no Internet connection is required for that.

The main thing that would be affected would be any images that are loaded on demand (i.e. images added to a Location) as well as the outdoor map. Outdoor tiles are also downloaded on demand, so for example if the user zooms in or out the outdoor map may not update to show more or less detail.
