How to backup and restore venue maps

Hi @msohm ,

I have an existing venue map in Mappedin that was used for a previous event. The event is now over, and I need to use the same Mappedin account for a new event at a different venue. If I delete the current venue map and create a new map for the upcoming event, can I later recreate or restore the original venue map using the files I downloaded from Mappedin?
Specifically, can the downloaded Mappedin files be used to remap or restore the original venue without having to redraw the entire venue from scratch, including rooms, POIs, labels, and other map data? If so, what files are required and what is the recommended process?

Thanks,
Manikandan A.

Hello there,

Currently we do not submit fully exporting the map data (geometry, locations, etc) to then re-upload. You are able to have multiple maps all within the same workspace so you don’t need to remove the current map. You can just make another one.

Hi Quinton,

Thanks for the clarification.

I currently have a Pro Map subscription and would like to retain my existing venue map for future use. If I create a new venue map, would I need to downgrade the current Pro Map and upgrade one of my free maps to a Pro Map instead?

If so, will that have any impact on the existing Pro Map, its data, or my current subscription plan? Could you please guide me on the recommended approach for managing multiple venue maps while preserving the existing one?

Thanks for your guidance.

Best regards,
Manikandan A.

Hello Manikandan,

Subscriptions are per map, so if you want another one upgraded it can be done independently of your current map. If you do not need the currently subscribed map to remain upgraded you can mark it to downgrade, which it will do after the current subscription period ends.

All data that is tied to a pro subscription will remain in the map, it just won’t be visible if the map is live anywhere while the subscription is not active.
