How to Train End Users

I have created a map and now need to train residents of a retirement home on how to use it. Has someone developed a training module for real newbie map readers? Users on a PC, iPhone and android?

Hi Robert, are you looking for guides on how to use the live 3D map? or will they be using our map editor?

The 3D map. I do the editing and I’m ok at that.

I thought that someone must have written instructions for the user group and I could borrow from that. Young people figure things out intuitively but our older residents sometimes need to be pointed in the right direction.

That’s a good point, thanks for sharing.

We don’t have an official guide for using the 3D map, but here’s a list I put together that I hope helps:

  • Click on a location in the map to expand location information (including description, link, image, phone number, hours of operation)

  • Click on a location in the map if you want to navigate to it, then click on “Directions.” You’ll have two options; either you drop a pin to indicate the point where you want navigation to start from, or you click on “Selection” and select a location from the list

  • You can also click into the search bar and type a location name or expand the listed location categories to find what you’re looking for

  • You can switch map levels from the level selector in the top right corner

  • You can copy a link to the map or to a specific route in the map using the icon with the 3 circles in the top right corner

  • On the bottom right corner, the “Accessible directions” toggle when turned on prioritizes elevators during navigation

  • There are controls that allow you to zoom in/out of the map as well as tilt and recenter the map on the bottom right corner
